We are an established, 75-year-old wholesaler distribution business with a heritage and reputation supplying a quality range of products with a culture of service.

Our retail showroom is open to the trade and public Monday to Saturday, and we have a dedicated, friendly, and knowledgeable team to serve you.

Blending

All blending is done in-house at MBL in our HACCP-certified blending room. We produce a range of seasonings, herbs & spices, marinades, and powdered flavours. Our specialty being signature blends and recipes developed for your business.

Our team has designated sales areas that extend from metropolitan Perth to the South West, East, and Northern parts of the state. The team is dedicated to keeping you informed with the latest available products on the market that can be perfectly matched to meet the needs of your business.

MBL makes it convenient for you to order, whether you order online, telephonically, or through one of our Account Managers. We ensure quick and efficient delivery backed by our own fleet of refrigerated trucks.

All blending is done in-house at MBL’s Canning Vale warehouse in our HACCP-certified blending room. We can deliver single-ingredient blends, a wide range of seasoning mixed-spice blends, marinade powders, and powdered flavours for sausage meats. In fact, MBL Food & Packaging can produce any blend of herbs and spices you require — we can even work with you to develop a signature blend for your business.

We have a dedicated, experienced, and professional sales team ready to service your needs. 1949

Master Butchers Co-operative Limited was incorporated in January 1949, under the direction of the Wesdan team of Frank West, Managing Director and Victor Dann, Sales Director, as a Co-operative to service the requirements of the Butchering industry.

1955

Master Butchers Co-operative Ltd, acquired one of the most valuable commercial properties near the inner city, purchasing 10-12 Asquith Street, Victoria Park.

1996

Master Butchers Co-Operative Limited was renamed MBL Food Services Co-operative Limited.

1998

13,000 sqm of land was purchased in Kewdale, to cater for future growth plans.

2004

The former Co-operative was converted to a non-listed public company and on 6th December, MBL Trading Limited was formerly incorporated by ASIC.

2005

The Kewdale block was sold and the profit was used to re-invest in a new building. Not long after, 10-12 Asquith Street, Victoria Park was sold and MBL moved to our current premises in Vulcan Road Canning Vale.

2020

MBL Food Service acquired Vital Packaging.

2021

MBL Food Services was renamed MBL Food & Packaging.

2022

MBL Food & Packaging acquired South Coast Food Services.

2024

MBL Food & Packaging acquired Kimberley Marketing – February 2024.

MBL continues to be the leading supplier to the Butchery and Meat Processing industry in Western Australia and an emerging supplier to the Bakery, Food Service and Packaging sectors. We employ more than 50 people, and service more than 1,500 customers and 358 shareholders.

Our commitment to excellent service and customer needs continues to be the foundation of our success. The values established by our founders — and their unwavering commitment to customer service — are key reasons we’ve become a household name among local food trades.

As much as we love looking ahead to what the future holds, we reflect proudly on where we’ve come from.

The very beginning.

In 1936, two young men started a venture which has made an indelible impression in the business community of WA — particularly amongst the Master Butchers of Western Australia. From a Perth store room, Frank West and Victor Dann started a supply house for Butchers requisites and called their enterprise “Wesdan”. With “Service” their guiding principle (and unlimited energy and enthusiasm) it was not long before the tiny store room became inadequate to handle the requirements of their growing client list.

As the venture gained repute and enjoyed ongoing success, the company moved location several times to expand the operation and keep up with customer demand. Management also entered in to a cooperative agreement with the Master Butchers of Western Australia — a great achievement! Finally, in 1949, Master Butchers Cooperative Limited was incorporated to service the requirements of the Butchering industry.

MBL today.

In 1996 Master Butchers Cooperative Limited was renamed MBL Food services Cooperative Limited. In 2004, MBL Trading Limited was formerly incorporated by ASIC. After multiple property purchases and sales over a number of years, we moved to our current premises in Vulcan Road, Canning Vale. More recently in 2021, MBL Foodservices was renamed MBL Food & Packaging. We’ve also opened a 600sqm showroom to the public and trade alike.

The interactions with our customers and suppliers, and the supply of new and innovative products to our markets, is integral to our achievements and ongoing prosperity. As always, we’re committed to maintaining and growing the relationships we have developed over the last 70 years, and look forward to the new relationships we’ll develop over the next 70.
